Ah, FortressCraft; simultaneously the bane of my recent existence, and the primary form of my entertainment. Things have been happening, bad things. Everyone keeps losing their worlds, but not me. I back mine up on a USB stick. When I tell this to people they don’t quite seem to understand it for some reason. I’ve been working on my castle like crazy, a huge castle, one of the largest structures I’ve seen in FortressCraft to be honest. And today I learned some tricks, tricks in the form of console commands. Wow, those are fun. I can do amazing things like increase the blast radius of TNT blocks. This is a particularly fun thing to do because when they detonate, they leave huge craters. Huge! And since I can save my world onto a USB stick, I have no qualms about placing a high radius TNT block at the heart of my castle. Watching my castle get ripped apart like that is fun, seeing the aftermath even more-so. It ends up looking like a cut-away section, something like a Castlevania castle, where I can see all the rooms like a doll house. Good stuff.

But explaining this technical wizardry is impossible. Since I had the back-up, I opened my world, castle and all to the public. Within ten minutes my world was unrecognizable, save for my castle which was pretty far off so people hadn’t noticed it yet. Including me, I had eight players in my room. One guy was trying to help people out though… help them find relics. But he was considerate to me. He kept asking, “Is this okay? I don’t wanna mess any of your stuff up.” I’d tell him to go ahead, that I had it backed-up on a USB stick. “Wait a second,” he’d say, “how can you do that?” I told him to go to the dashboard, navigate to the memory options; “Wait,” he interrupted. “The dashboard? That means I’d have to leave the game. If I leave the game how am I supposed to save it?” I told him that he’d be creating a back-up of an existing save. “Wow, are you an idiot?” he asked with a laugh. Of course everyone in the room agreed with him. “What a moron,” they would say, “are all the smart people playing Minecraft?” “Dude, you can’t save your worlds! You just have to deal with it until they patch it.” Never mind that USB back-ups are working for all my friends. But, a patch to fix the issue is coming Sunday.

Sure, there’s been some problems here and there but from what I’ve been told, Minecraft started off pretty much the same way. And there’s a ton of stuff in the works as far as new features. I think I’ll be playing FortressCraft for a long time.
