Part of Everything
…shapeless things

From the edge of the waterfall clearing Beliath heard something rustle. He focused his gaze on where he thought the noise came from and he was right, and quite taken aback by what he saw. Three figures, black and round, almost shapeless, as if they were made of upright shadow, standing free. Beliath rubbed his eyes and looked again. The formless beings approached him in silence, stretching their spidery limbs at him, crawling like elbowed beasts. Their heads were massive bulbs with no proper eyes, but black circular voids of pitch where eyes should have been. One of the formless creatures was much larger then the other two, it came the fastest and Beliath fell back onto the hard and dry clay from fear of it. It hovered its mass over him and looked closely with its black circular voids of pitch that should have been eyes. Beliath was frozen in fear and panic took him. The two smaller formless beings approached, spidered from the side and put their faces close to see this unfamiliar creature of man. They weaved around Beliath in study and awe, they guessed he was a creature of man from the city, they guessed he had gotten lost. Beliath gasped for breath and the formless beings made of shadow lurched back to their spot near the brush and bramble.
